question about cashing a social security disability check?

I ALSO GET SSI CHECKS EVERY MONTH.I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE I GOT DIRECT DEPOSIT.SINCE YOU ALREADY SIGNED YOUR CHECK OVER TO YOUR SISTER AND SHE SIGNED AND PUT HER ACCOUNT INFO ON IT INSTEAD OF CASHING IT JUST HAVE HER DEPOSIT IT INTO HER ACCOUNT.YOU"LL IMMEDIATELY BE ABLE TO WITHDRAW HALF OF THE AMOUNT OF THE CHECK AND WITHIN 3-5 BUSSINESS DAYS SHE'LL BE ABLE TO WITHDRAW THE REST.LIKE I SAID I HAD TO DO THE EXACT SAME THING SEVERAL TIMES.

Depends upon whether it's an SSI disability or Social Security disability.

If SSI, you will require an interview with a claims rep to update your income, resources and living arrangements. Everything must be verified. So it depends upon how quickly they get the evidence. Once they input all of the verifications, it takes about 5 days to process direct deposit, 10 to 14 days to process a paper check.

If Social Security and everything is in file (e.g. your birth certificate and any other proofs they need to process the claim) it can take as little as 30 days from the date you received that "favorable" decision. But I'd give them 60 days before following up with your claims rep at your local social security office. If the local office contacts you for additional evidence, you can figure at least 30 days from the date you provide the evidence.

My social security disability benefit check was reduced.?

Even though you have direct deposit you are required by law to keep social security informed as to where you live so that when they send you correspondence you will receive it.

Social Security is required by law to give people advance notice whenever benefits will be reduced, suspended or terminated. You were sent a letter telling you what was taking place AND WHY and you were given 10 days + 5 days mailing time in which to rebut the change being made if you disagreed and you would have been provided with the name and direct phone # of the person who was making the change.

So you were sent notification. They either don't have your current address or for some reason the letter wasn't delivered or you didn't bother to read it if it was.

You can call 1-800-772-1213 or you can visit your nearest social security office. If you visit they are open 9am-3pm, Mon-Fri except Wednesday afternoons (9am-12pm).
