Spririt Week Barbie Doll Day!?

Don't listen to stupid people, Barbie day is fun! I love Barbie day...

1. okay, so I say you go with Pink lipstick, because red lipstick is too sultry and barbie is known for being pink.

2. Also bright pink blush, brushed lightly along your cheekbones. Pucker your lips, so that your cheekbones are going in, and brush lightly from the top of your cheekbones to your lips, going more light once you get to the end.

3. Use a pink just a little brighter and a little pinker than your chosen lipstick and line the cupid's bow (top of your lips) and the bottom bow of your lips, but avoiding the corners of your lips because that'll make your lips look smaller.

4. also use a little light blue on your eyes avouding the inside corners of your eyes, so that its not overwhealming. start at the outside corner, and dont go and higher than the inside crease of your eyelids (brow bone).

5. Use a charcoal eyeliner, and line the entire top half of your lids LIGHTLY. line the bottom half of your lids starting on the outside and stop when you reach about the middle of your pupil. This will open up your eyes and make them look bigger if done correctly.

Hope I helped! :)

What is up with Barbie these days?

What is up with Barbie these days?

There are a number of types of Barbies out there these days.

The Platinum Label dolls are true collectibles, with a price that shows that. (Usually no more than 1,000.) These are the elegant, exclusives such as the first and second Hard Rock Cafe, Queen Elizabeth, Marie Antoinette, Designer Brides, etc.

The Gold Label dolls are next in limited edition, but I think it's about 25,000. This is where you will find the Silkstone dolls, and a few others. Silkstone is a combination of stone and something - 8 on Mohn scale of hardness -- they are heavier, skinnier, and generally have the look of the original Barbies; they are all designed by Robert Best... also for collectors.

The pink label and playline dolls are for girls to play with and have lots of fun. There are so many of these that it is hard to say what you may find in your local toy store or ebay or Amazon. There are some really good bargains from e-toys sold through Amazon right now.

There are also the Models of the Moment; these are more svelt and tend to be high fashion, but the price is affordable for playline.

There are Barbies with accessories to be veternarians, doctors, teachers, skaters, princesses, fairies -- and dolls of the world (DOW). The DOW are lovely, and do teach about other cultures.

There are also Fashion Fever dolls; these are extremely popular and there are a lot of clothes for these dolls. I have found that some of the clothes do not fit right, but my girls love the dolls. These dolls are not for children who chew on their dolls.

Check out www.barbiecollectibles.com -- the mattel site that will give you a quick overview of some of the dolls. You can purchase a lot of one of a kind (OOAK) clothing from ebay; there are some really great seamstresses. Make sure you know which type of doll body you are buying for. Silkstone (silkies) are very small waisted. (Also check ebay with the search criteria soccer barbie -- I just did a quick check and found several.) Going to ebay and find older NRFB (never removed from box) and MIB (mint in box) is not too expensive -- just watch the shipping charges.

Actually all of the current dolls are smaller than the dolls of 10-30 years ago -- I don't know if they are more proportional, but dresses made for the old dolls might have a hard time staying in place for the newer dolls.

There are cowgirl dolls, flat footed dolls, elegantly dressed dolls (such as the Christmas special); one of my favorites is the pink one they had to help support breast cancer. The new one is in red -- part of the profit goes to charity.

Go by your niece's age to find the proper doll that makes both you and her happy. Just remember, though, the biggest thing is that you are giving your niece a special gift -- and that will matter most to her.

Holidays also on this date Sunday, March 9, 2025...
