None of my children have it but my nephew and my niece both had it. They are now 7 and 1. The boy is 7 and his hair grew back. My niece hasn't had any hair grow back yet even with the cream. I think it all depends on the child. Don't worry to much about it though. I am sure that if it has been growing back it should be fine. Hope i could help.

Alopecia Areata Help.. Hair Question?

This happened to my child! I took my child to the dermatologist and found out this is hereditary, some cousins had it..didn't know till this happened. It is triggered by stress. We were told to use Rogaine for women, following the instructions on the box. Also got a prescript for a topical steroid cream (Clobex) - ask for samples! It's expensive if you have crappy insurance like us. Told us to put this on the bald patch twice a day but not at the same time the Rogaine is put on. It cleared up and hasn't come back, thank God!! I can't remember how long it took. This was years ago, but I think it took a month or two.

Look up Children's Alopecia Project in your search. They do a lot of things for children but they have a lot of famous people with alopecia attend their events as it uplifts the children. My 5 year old son was diagnosed with Alopecia Universalis in September. He has no hair on his body or head. If you would like I will send some pics of him. Also go to NAAF.org You may be able to find some info there too.
