Question on Deaf Awareness Week?

I feel that DAW for the most part is intended primarily to call attention to the fact that there are deaf people in this world and hopefully to increase public awareness of issues affecting us. There may also be a goal of trying to educate people about Deaf culture and history although most hearing people are unaware that there even *is* a Deaf culture, so I don't think that is going so well. (Incidentally, I hope you have at least been told a little about the Deaf community in your ASL class.)

In general, specific individual efforts at public awareness during DAW seem to focus either on issues regarding deafness or focus or on historically famous people who were deaf or hard of hearing.

Which week is Deaf Awareness Week?

Which week is Deaf Awareness Week?

I have found conflicting answers in my google searches. About.com's Deafness section says that it is always the last full week of September. But the Deaf Council in the UK says that it is from May 7th 'til May 13th. The National Foundation for the Deaf in New Zealand says that it is the last week of September, too. So, I'm inclined to say that it is the last week of September, but there seems to also be other weeks, too.
