Buddy, if you JUST realized you love her NOW, I promise you've been kidding yourself. I'm not trying to make this about me, but I had the same thing. I've known this guy for years and then one day, I looked at him and I couldn't find a thing wrong with him, or anyone who's treated me better, or even just made me feel like the TRUE person I am. I couldn't pin this phenomenon on one day, but it did truly feel like it just happened in an instant, just like falling. It happened kind of slowly - "under the radar" I guess you could say, and then all at once I just FELL. Now I can't go a day without thinking about him and the first thing I think when I wake up and the last thing before I go to sleep is "my God, he's beautiful." He's my best friend too.
To answer your question though, "HOW?" I really don't know. I mean, there are just some things out there that can never be answered (especially not on yahoo answers..sorry ,man). Why both of us, and hundred...nay thousands of others, fell for their best friends, I will never know. It think we loved them before, we were just too embarrassed, ashamed, afraid even of what we were feeling to say or do anything. Then one day, it became too much and our brain was like, "You love them, don't you?" And you finally listened and was like, "Yes. I do."
