National American Teddy Bear Day was started by the Vermont Teddy Bear Company in 2000 to honor the toys that have become a popular part of American culture. Vermont Teddy Bear Company always celebrates on November 10, there is a discount on everything in stock at the Vermont Teddy Bear Company store and at the Waterbury Bear Shop. Free tours are given and free Teddy bear 'check ups' are offered along with arts and crafts activites. No celebration would be complete without cake and ice cream to enjoy.

I think you will have trouble arguing barbie as an innovation. Don't get me wrong, I think barbie is influential in American culture, but an innovation is supposed to be something new. Barbie was basically a rip-off of a German doll out at the same time, but if you're interested in historical toys the teddy bear would be good.
Hope that helps!!
