Can a chiropractor cause more pain?
Sometimes you will be sore after a chiropractic adjustment and that is normal. New symptoms that shoot down your arm is concerning. Symptoms like this are often related to the neck and could be a part of the normal degenerative process, a disc problem, muscles in spasm or some other factor putting pressure on a nerve. And yes, the chiropractic adjustment could have been a factor. It's hard to know if you would have had the symptoms if you didn't see the chiropractor though. It is easy to want to blame someone for symptoms that arise during treatment but again sometimes those symptoms were in the process of developing anyway.
That being said, I would go to a second chiropractor and ask for another opinion. I would check two websites to find that chiropractor. Check out the American Chiropractic Associations' website at www.acatoday.org and click on the "find a doc" link on the top of the page. Then check out your state's chiropractic associations' website (just do a Google search for "Virginia Chiropractic Association" for example). If you find the chiropractor is a member of their state AND national organization you will know they have agreed to follow the highest ethical standards and you can be confident you have chosen a chiropractor more concerned about your health than their wallets. Good luck.
Can someone Help me with the pain of Carpal Tunnel?
It is ridiculous that they haven't sent you to a chiropractor yet. Many times treatment by a chiropractor can keep you from having to have a dangerous and expensive surgery. There has been plenty of research done with chiropractic on patients suffering from carpal tunnel syndrome and chiropractic care has been indicate as the most effective noninvasive technique for correcting this, often more effective than medical treatment. There are also serious risks involved with surgery for this problem and the surgery is often times not necessary. I strongly suggest trying chiropractic and use surgery as a last resort. I also wouldn’t use medications for the pain as they can have serious side effect to your health.
American Association for Cancer Research
NSAIDs (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) such as advil, motrin, aleve, ibuprofen, naproxen, ect. taken for 6 months doubles a persons chances of heart attack, stroke, or other heart related problem. “NSAID users were dying at twice the rate of nonusers.” Ibuprofen users were 3 times likely to die of cardiovascular problems.
Journal of the National Institute of Cancer published a research study done on 114,460 women that showed women who take ibuprofen for 5 yrs are 50% more likely to develop breast cancer and women who take aprin for 5 yrs are 80% more likely to develop breast cancer.
The Lancet, the world’s leading general medical journal, and the British Medical Journal published this randomized study of chiropractic and hospital out patient treatment. The study used 741 patients. They noted the study “showed a strong and clear advantage for patients with chiropractic.”
Hope this helps and here is a site with research that you can read.
