Is this national squirrel freak out week?
Yes, it happens a few days after the fall equinox every year. They realize they have to start saving for winter and totally wig out. Plus, I hear that the pecans have a strange strain of mold spore on them this year, which causes anxiety and disorientation among squirrels. That would explain the bizarre behavior. If they start doing the cha cha out on the lawn, I would suspect that acorns have been infected with the rare dancing beetle larvae, but that IS rare. Let me know what happens. If they do start dancing on the lawn, I'll have to come over with my shotgun and neutralize the threat. If let alone, the squirrels will infect pet dogs, crocodiles and hamsters and it could be very deadly to humans. It's very contagious at that point....
