Paperback Book Day

Whilst digital books and e-readers are ending up being significantly popular, there's still something quite special concerning an aged made book. Paperback Book Day commemorates the look, structure and encounter of reading a paperback classic.

Are Ebooks more popular than paperback books these days?

It's on the rise, and physical books are on the decline, especially softcovers, but most books are still bought in physical brick and mortar stores, not ebooks. Though, for some publishers, at least half thier sales are coming from ebooks.

NOW, don't confuse this with self-published ebooks. Some self-published ebooks have been breakout hits and have higher sales than ebooks published by trade publishers, but most self-published ebooks still lack sales. Just look at any top 10 ebooks best sellers list and most of the best selling ebooks are NOT self-published ebooks.

AND, this is also interesting, ebooks for YA books are still low. Most teens still read physical books and not ebooks. The rapid growth rate in ebooks is in Adult fiction. YA lags WAY behind and has seen very little growth in ebooks.

I usually purchase my books online through different Amazon retailers. I don't read ebooks. & I prefer hardcover to softcover. I dont know anyone who reads ebooks, except for *maybe* my brother's girlfriend. I've downloaded the amazon kindle app to my computer and downloaded some free ebooks (not selfpublished work), but I can't compel myself to read them. I prefer physical books.

For casual reading purposes, I prefer paperback books. One reason is that I'm a college student, and when I have to be on campus all day, I prefer a book that won't cause too much bulk along with my textbooks. Simply, if I'm reading a book casually, whether it be while sitting on campus, sitting on my couch, or sitting in my bed, I often find it most convenient to have a lightweight paperback.

For sentimental reasons, I don't mind having hardcover copies of some of my favorite books. Hardcover books often seem to me to act more as memorabilia and such, and so if there is a book that I really like and that is available in both paperback and hardcover, then I often like to have both (the paperback for the purpose of reading easily, and the hardcover for keepsake value).

Best wishes!

what are paperback books?

what are paperback books?

A hardcover book has the solid covers and are more expensive. A paperback book's cover is made of a thick paper that can (sometimes) be quite easy to tear. A paperback book is usually less expensive than a hardcover book. New releases are always in hardcover, then later come out in paperback.

Have a good day! :)
