Forecasts over recent decades recommended that could 21st 2011 would mark the finish around the globe, by means of the Christian Rapture. So far as we are able to tell, the wedding didn’t happen as Harold Camping predicted, and today the date is well known with ‘rapture parties’ and ‘end around the globe parties’.

We're having a Rapture Day party at my house. There will be about 50 Heathens and Pagans and the scattered atheist or two here. We considered going to the one thrown by the San Francisco bay area/Oakland atheists but weren't digging on what looks to be the atheist version of a vegan potluck menu, so we're having our own here. Besides, while most atheists find us and our random cries of things like "Hail Odin" while drinking to be amusing, some, especially those in SF/Oakland, find us frightening. It works better for all concerned for us to simply remain in our own community.

No After Rapture Day party for me though. We got a few inches of fresh powder with the last series of storms. I'm going skiing. :-)

What do you think peoples life will be like for 30 days after the rapture?

Before the rapture, the world will go through a time of peace and prosperity (kind of like now). When the rapture happens, all Christians will be called off the earth, and into Heaven. Soon before or after that, the world will go through the Tribulation. One unlike the world has ever seen (Matthew 24:21). The Tribulation is a future time period when the Lord will accomplish at least two aspects of His plan: 1) He will complete His discipline of the nation Israel (Daniel 9:24), and 2) He will judge the unbelieving, godless inhabitants of the earth (Revelation 6 - 18). The length of the Tribulation is seven years. This is determined by an understanding of the seventy weeks of Daniel (Daniel 9:24-27) When the Rapture happens, not only will the Christians disappear, but also the children, babies, unborn, and mentally handicapped. (Ones who were mentally unable to receive Christ prior to the Rapture) Also, since many airplane pilots are Christian, there will be many plane crashes, and horrific traffic accidents. The world will be in complete confusion, panic, and hysteria. People will be screaming, "WHAT IN THE WORLD IS GOING ON?!?!" Many theories will be thought of to try to explain this event (from things such as global warming, to alien abduction). During this time of crisis, a man will step up. He will promise great peace and comfort to the people. They will all love him, and look to him as a great leader. In no time, he will be sole dictator of the entire world. The Bible calls him the Anti-Christ. During the first few years, everything may seem find to most, but he will move quickly to ensure any new Christians are killed (beheading), and Bibles destroyed. Anyone who does not receive the leader's special mark in their right hand or forehead, will not be allowed to sell or buy anything. If they refuse to take the mark, they will be killed. Many believe it will be a tattoo, but it may be a microchip. Eventually, however, God will have His wrath. Seven plagues will strike the earth. They are as followed:

*Ugly and painful sores break out on the people who have the mark of the beast and worship his image. (Revelation 16:2)

*The third of the sea turns into blood like that of a dead man, and every living thing in the sea dies. (Revelation 16:3)

*The third of the rivers and springs become blood. (Revelation 16:4)

*The sun is given power to scorch people with fire. They are seared by the intense heat and they curse the name of God, who has control over these plagues, but they refuse to repent and glorify Him. (Revelation 16:8)

*The Beast's (the Anti-Christ) kingdom is plunged into darkness. Men gnaw their tongues in agony and curse the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, but they refuse to repent of what they have done. (Revelation 16:10)

*The Great river Euphrates is dried up to prepare the way for the kings from the East. (Revelation 16:12)

*The great city split into three parts, and the cities of the nations collapsed. God remembered Babylon the Great and gave her the cup filled with the wine of the fury of his wrath. Every island fled away and the mountains could not be found. From the sky huge hailstones of about a hundred pounds each fell upon men. And they cursed God on account of the plague of hail, because the plagues are so terrible. (Revelation 16:17)
