Trail mix is really a high energy snack composed of dried fruits, nuts and snacks, made to help you stay alert and energised when walking, hiking, and partaking in similar endurance and intense activities. Trail Mix Day is about creating good trail mix and testing it on the highway.

trail mix is extremely high in energy! that's what it's for to give you that boost to keep you walking or climbing for the next few HOURS!

but is is also really high in essential micro-nutrients, If it is worrying you too much, have greens (celery cucumber, carrots etc ) most nights and leave the trail mix for just a few nights a week. =]

PS if you have it before you do your homework, it will help you concentrate, do better work and using your brain will help burn the extra calories you are getting ( your brain uses up to 1/4 of all the calories your body needs, so don't forget the trail mix for your exams! ) =]

trail mix?

I make my own.

2 or 3 kinds of nuts, almonds are one of the healthiest. Dried fruits and some coconut. Sunflower kernels. I think its Sunmaid that puts out a small bag of mixed dried fruits (blueberries, cranberries, etc)

I take about 1 cup per day with me. I keep it at my desk or in my bag when on the run.

what do i put in trail mix ?

ULTIMATE TRAIL MIX

1 cup dried cranberries

1 cup dried blueberries

1 cup dried pineapple

1 cup dried apple pieces

1 cup peanuts

1 cup cashews

1 cup almonds

1 cup marshmallows (any kind)

1 1/2 cups puppy chow

1 cup chocolate chips

1 cup peanutbutter chips

1 cup butterscotch chips

1 cup white chocolate chips

Mix all ingredients together in a large bowl.

Great to take along on hikes, a day in the park or on road trips.

To store: Put in sandwich bags or airtight containers.

Note: Puppy Chow is a snack mix for people!
