Hi there, first let me start by saying that many countries have traditions for new years day for example, Brazil they wear white on new years eve to represent good luck in the upcoming year.

That being said, I asked my great grandfather if he knew anything about people wearing yellow on new years day. His answer was that it was an old tradition started back many many years ago that has mostly died down today. But the reason for the tradition that Yellow is the color of the Sun and the Sun represents life, fertility and as well as gold "rays of sunshine" which represents wealth. So in short the reason is to welcome good luck, life, wealth and fertility for land and life.

A banana! Lol how bout a sports team that is yellow, like the Lakers, or something you could wear their jersey. Or just wear tons of yellow, yellow socks, shirt, shorts, dye your hair yellow. etc. hope this helps:D
