Historically, has Americanization benefited the world?

Historically, has Americanization benefited the world?

Depends which world.

he religious fervor spawned by the Second Great Awakening created another incentive for the drive west. Indeed, many settlers believed that God himself blessed the growth of the American nation. The Native Americans were considered heathens. By Christianizing the tribes, American missionaries believed they could save souls and they became among the first to cross the Mississippi River.

At the heart of manifest destiny was the pervasive belief in American cultural and racial superiority. Native Americans had long been perceived as inferior, and efforts to "civilize" them had been widespread since the days of John Smith. The Hispanics who ruled Texas and the lucrative ports of California were also seen as "backward."

Manifest Destiny

"Between 1840 and 1860, before the American Civil War, enslaved Africans followed the North Star on the Underground Railroad to find freedom in Canada. It was not an actual railroad but a secret network of routes and safe houses that helped people escape slavery and reach free states or Canada..."

The Underground Railway

"Sailing so close to Florida that they could see the lights of Miami, some passengers on the St. Louis cabled President Franklin D. Roosevelt asking for refuge. Roosevelt never responded. The State Department and the White House had decided not to take extraordinary measures to permit the refugees to enter the United States. A State Department telegram sent to a passenger stated that the passengers must "await their turns on the waiting list and qualify for and obtain immigration visas before they may be admissible into the United States." US diplomats in Havana intervened once more with the Cuban government to admit the passengers on a "humanitarian" basis, but without success."

Jews fleeing Germany: The SS St Louis

The USA has some pretty ugly blemishes on its humanitarian record, tis true, and from Saddam Hussein to the Shah of Iran they have supported some pretty shady people who went to war against their own people with secret police and 'disappearances' etc...

But, gotta give them due credit also.

After Pearl Harbor and the Japanese backstab, they did agree with the Allies to make the defeat of Germany a top priority.

After WW2 with the Marshall Plan they, along with the rest of the western Allies rebuilt Europe and Japan.

They are an Immigrant nation, open door to anyone who seeks a better life.

"Helping Refugees Ease into US Way of Life"

Has 'Americanization' benefited the world - I wouldn't suggest they are the shining knights but I would offer a passing grade. For the most part they are a noble people and usually their intentions are good.

I'd give them a C+ or B.

Hope that helps (sorry but I offer unbiased answers, I go with what is correct vs just saying stuff to be popular or get best answer votes :)

Humanitarian Songs (Songs about war, today’s bad world, issues these days like poverty etc)?

Humanitarian Songs (Songs about war, today's bad world, issues these days like poverty etc)?

Black Eyed Peas: Where Is The Love (well I know you said it already, well its a good song, but I hate the band though...)

System of a Down: BYOB

(listen to the lyrics and you'll see what it means and btw the chorus means how those who have started the war just enjoy their lives while those who they have caused trouble to, they get agony and pain)

System of a Down: War? (duh...war)

System of a Down: Prison Song (it's about how bad prisons are, are they the only way to keep criminals out? Can they stop criminality?)

System of a Down: Cigaro (It's about how the leaders think that they are above the society -> this mostly refers to the part "my c*** is much bigger than yours" and the "my s*** stinks much better than yours" part. It's also about how leaders seem to do their job wrongly -> referring to the part "we're the animators that de-animate, we're the regulators that de-regulate)

System of a Down: Tentative (I believe it's about how those affected by wars think during the time the war is occurring, they're trying to say "what about us". War starters believe war is the only way to get peace, wherein it is the only way to remove more people and territory in this world)

Um..there are many more by System of a Down, just search for the band's songs. Most of them are "humanitarian". They speak of the world. Everything in the world.

SOAD (system of a down) is my favorite band because of how their music is so great lyrically and musically...

Holidays also on this date Monday, August 19, 2024...
