Send a polite letter to your neighbours a couple of days before the party stating that you are planning on having a few friends and acquaintances around in the day for the party in your garden and will try to not be too loud, but state that we were planning to have some music on in the afternoon/early evening.
At the party, encourage your guests to go home or just come inside your house around 8pm when it starts to get dark anyway. Write that you will not be in the garden after 8 in the letter.
If you are polite enough, then they cannot complain.
Make photocopies of your letter before you post it as proof in case they make another complaint.

bachelorette party/spa day?
My husband recently went to a bachelor party where he was invited on Myspace and the bestman set up a paypal account to collect the money from everyone. Just tell them what their share is for the day, I would highly reccomend figuring out what everyone is getting ahead of time so you can got to the spa and tell them what you are doing, i.e. we are going to get 10 mani/pedis and 1 facial (for the bride) and 10 - 1/2 hour massages and then ask for a volume discount and figure in the cost of doing all these, plus dinner and the hotel rooms (try to get one big suite so you can have a slumber party) and split up the amount evenly.
