Secure the flowers! Flower Layout Day is all about cherishing floral design as an unique and imaginative art type.

It all began with the suggestion to produce an unique method of celebrating the special day of Carl Rittner, creator of the Rittner School of Floral Layout in Boston. And yes, the day is official-- the Governor of Massachusetts William F. Weld proclaimed it in 1995. History lesson apart, today is a reason to go crazy about flowers and permit your internal creativity trigger. There are numerous things that could be done with blooms-- the sky's the limit. On today, flaunt your flower skill and make an amazing floral design with blooms-- genuine, dried or fake. Attract pictures of floral designs and obtain the kids entailed. Guys can participate the enjoyable as well. Why not organize a remarkable flower bouquet for your leading female?

You're going to need to know:

Botany and Horticulture: Health, growth, compatibility, and more about the products -- flowers and plants -- as well as chemicals used to preserve and grow them.

Business Management: Creative and new ways to develop, maintain and grow your clietele, assuming you want to own a shop or business some day.

Design and Color Theory: This one would seem obvious, but for some, would be the first picked, and they'd forget the importance of the others.

Here's where a mentor would help. You'd do well to find a passionate florist near you, who's willing to share how he or she got there. Hopefully you find someone who's not threatened by your interest in the field, unless you plan to open shop next to them, lol.

They might tell you that you need no college at all, and that some business courses are all you'll need, or some art courses at your local art gallery.

Depending upon your age and experience, this is a good time to sit down and see what you really are starting with as far as your known talents:

Are you a brilliant artist with no business sense?

Did you grow up helping run the family store but now need to know about design?

Do you want to actually grow some of your own product to sell?

These are questions a good, talented counselor at your university will ask, and will help guide you into the right choices for your educational expenses.

Keep in mind that you have the option to withdraw from some courses if you find they're entirely inappropriate, but it's better that you feel really excited about the choices first, and the best way for that is to examine the choices carefully so you're sure of them -- you get the idea...

Floral design help?

I don't know what the material is that floral tape is made out of, but it responds to the heat of your hands and the stretching of it. The stuff you put into vases to make it look like water is called acrylic water. They have a whole bunch of different brands of it and they sell it at arts & crafts stores. The texture of it is kind of like mineral oil. The brand that I've used comes with two bottles - one that's a thicker than water substance and the other is like an oil. You mix the two together and it creates the "water". If you use it, make sure not to stir it too fast - do it gentle to reduce the amount of bubbles it creates. Bubbles will dry as bubbles so make sure to pop or get rid of any bubbles in your vase before it sets. Also, when you mix it make sure to use disposable bowls & utensils - the water will harden on it. It's a great product that completely hardens after it sets and looks like water. The "water" needs to set for something like 1 or 2 days, so make sure to plan ahead.
