Get girlfriend a puppy for one year anniversary?
If she still lives with her parents or roommates or whatever - you should ask them first, just to be courteous. You wouldn't want to give her a puppy just to find out that she has to get rid of it because someone she lives with has an allergy or hatred against dogs.
And DON'T buy a dog from a petstore in the mall! Go to an animal shelter or humane society.
Do you observe the sad anniversaries?
Definitely, and I'm an emotional wreck when it comes to pets. i lost my beloved jack russell terrier on march 21st 2008 so today is a horrible day. The first two weeks when she passed i was in complete denial. Of course i cried but i didn't want to believe she was really gone. Now it is starting to sink in that i will never see her again. I miss her everyday. Also i was deleting some pictures off my computer yesterday and i came across some pictures of my jack russell i was bawling my eyes out, She was my constant companion. She was so thankful that i rescued her. She was only 3 years old when she died, When my little brother came to my house to visit he left the pool gate open and i am pretty sure my jack russell fell in the water and drowned. I searched for an hour for her and called the police, vet and humane society then i decided just to look in the pool "just incase" but i knew she was scared of water so when i found her i was in complete shock. I tried giving her CPR for a half-an-hour.
