Stan Musial - a comparison to modern day players (c.1975 and up)?

Well here is a quick rundown on Musial, just to show you how truly amazing he was. Musial, a 1969 inductee into the National Baseball Hall of Fame, played his entire 22-year career with the Cardinals, recording a lifetime batting average of .331 with 475 home runs and 1,951 RBIs. A 20-time All-Star and three-time National League Most Valuable Player, Musial played in four World Series with the Cardinals, winning it three times -- in 1942, '44 and '46.

There aren't many people that you can compare to Musial. When you talk about hitting wise, a name like Albert Pujols or Derek Jeter may pop up. As you can see, not only did Musial drop bombs, but he also hit for a very high average, and knocked in a lot of runs, as do both Pujols and Jeter.

Outfield is kind of a tossup. You can throw in guys like Edmonds, Jones, being a Cardinal fan myself I like to compare him to Edmonds, which isn't an unfair comparison because in my minds they are both game changing outfielders.

At 1st base, I would say again an Albert Pujols. He could field and pick the ball cleanly at 1st, as can Pujols. You could also give a case for Olerud, LaRoche, Palmerio.

Hope this helps.

May I aks anyone of you to help me plan my 5 days trip to London by going to the same location of tourist spot

OK - I am from London and often show visiting people around... here are my top tips:

Day 1.

Buy a day pass for a Bus Tour. Spend the day touring around the city to get a feel for the place. You will at least see all the best tourist sites and can plan the rest of your time.

There are many to choose from, but this is as good as any:

In the evening - go to the West End and see a show.

Day 2. Westminster.

Catch the tube (underground) to Westminster. Visit Parliament. You can book a tour:

Come out of Parliament and visit Westminster Abbey (directly opposite).

Leave Westminster Abbey and walk down Whitehall towards Trafalgar Square. Walk through the heart of British Government.

Visit The Churchill War Bunkers (secret bunker under Downing Street where Sir Winston Churchill ran the war during bombing raids. This is a MUST - a fantastic way to spend a few hours):

Continue walking down Whitehall. Look at Downing Street (through the security railings). Directly opposite Downing Street is the Red Lion Pub - pop in for a drink - it's used by all the Members of Parliament - you never know who you will be standing next to.

Continue walking down Whitehall. Pass Horseguards Parade and walk on to Trafalgar Square. If you have time visit the National Portrait Gallery.

Day Three:

Culture Day... catch the tube to South Kensington.

Visit the Victoria and Albert Museum in the morning.

Ten minute walk to Harrods - go to the Creperie on Floor 3 for a light lunch. Have a look around the store - the Food Hall is a must. Go the Fine Jewells and look at all the vulgar people with far too much money and too little style.

Afternoon: If you have the energy - try the Natural History Museum (next door to the V&A):

Walk back through Knightsbridge looking at London's top shops.

Day 4:

Something different. Go back to Westminster and walk down to the Thames by Westminster Bridge. Catch a Thames River Cruise to Greenwich.

See London from the River. The trip is about 1 hour.

Get off at Greenwich - traditional home of the British Royal Navy and also the Royal Observatory and the Greenwich Time Line. Marvel at the historic grandeur of the waterfront buildings.

Visit the Cutty Sark (right outside the ferry terminal)

Walk through the town center. Poke around Greenwich Market (best day is Sunday but OK any time).

Walk over Greenwich Common and up the hill to the Royal Observatory.

Step on (literally) the Time Line (the line that sets world time and separates the Eastern and Western hemospheres).

if you are there at mid-day watch the "Time Ball" falling - a great big golden ball that slides down a pole on top of the Royal Observatory at 12noon EVERY day - it was erected in Queen Victoria's time to indicate the precise time to the Ships Captains all anchored on the River Thames below.

Catch the ferry back towards Westminster. Jump off at Tower Bridge and if you have time visit the Tower of London and see the Crown Jewells.

Finally catch the Ferry back to Westminster.

Day 5:

So much still to do and see - 5 days isn't long enough:

Go to the South Bank of the Thames (Most of the main attractions are North of the River - but the South Bank is worth a visit too).

Book tickets for the London Eye - the massive Ferris Wheel opposite Parliament. Magnificent views 26 miles across the city.

Walk along the Thames back towards Tower Bridge. Stop for lunch in Hays Gallaria - a fantastic converted dry dock on the Thames.

PM: too much to choose from and so little time? Buckingham Palace / Kensington Palace / Covent Garden / St Pauls Cathederal / Bohemian Soho...

There you are - we have just scratched the surface, but if you follow the above you will see a good selection of what my wonderful home city has to offer.

I hope you have a fantastic time in London.

How do American Whites (72% of the pop.) compare to Norway’s 82% Norwegians?

How do American Whites (72% of the pop.) compare to Norway's 82% Norwegians?

In the US we are used to diversity. In Europe they haven't quite gotten used to it, as evidenced by Oswald Moseley, Adolf Hitler, Jean Marie Le Pen, the British National Party, etc. In both US and Europe you occasionally have these batshit crazy people from time to time who shoot up schools, McDonalds, blow up government buildings (Oklahoma City), etc. In Japan they had that guy who cyanide bombed the Tokyo subway. There was that American guy who was putting cyanide in Tylenol Capsules. There was that guy who was mailing people Anthrax dust. And of course that Saudi Kook whose dad owned a construction company who had a hobby of flying planes into buildings and simultaneously blowing up other ones of people he didn't like. I don't know if there is an afterlife or a hell for people like this to go to after death, but for their sake you kind of hope their is.

Somebody is sooner or later going to get in your business when you're different or have a different agenda. Let's hope that is not going to be the day they decided to kick it up a notch and go into the mass murder business.

Holidays also on this date Thursday, June 27, 2024...
