well it depends on what they mean by "look like a rodent" becouse some rodents do NOT look like rodents, such as chinchillas, chinchillas are a exotic pet, they are rodents but im NOT kidding, they are the softest thing on the planet, im not just saying my opinion, its 100% true. They have 80 hairs where you have only one. They are great pets but you can not have them if you have a bunny, for a bactirea from the bunny will KILL the chinchilla, and if your house goes above 80 degrees, for they can overheat. But they do not even look like a rodent! yet they are ;D here is a picture thats a baby getting bottle feed :D

BTW they need a big cage, and they cost ALOT, some cost up to 200$

Also i would say a Ferret, people say they stink but thats not true as long as you give them a bath once a week and clean there cage every day or every other day. but beware, if you leave something shiny on the floor and they find it, they will steal it and hide it in there cage! :D but they need a pretty big cage and lots of out time. ohh here are some pics too

Oh and i know of a pet, thats just perfect, but i guess it kinda looks like a rodent, its called a sugar glider or a sugar bear, they are small like a large hamster, cute, and they can glide! they are actually a marsupial (kangaroos are marsupials) and make great pets, but they need a large cage and need LOTS of time out and with you. If your school lets it just put them in your pocket and they would be very happy! here is a picture or two, your call if they look to rodent like :D

And i would highly suggest this one... A guinea pig. these fat little blobs are so fun! i own one in fact! they love getting tickled but dont like getting held and much as other animals. They are very socal and are best in a pair, i own just one fat male but i give him tons of affection so hes not lonly :D they do have an odor, but if you go to your local petsmart and buy this bi-odor stuff for about 13$ it really works to make the smell almost not noticalble! males are alot diffrent then females, so chose carefully!

Also, as said earlyer, a rabbit. They are so fun and lovable once they get use to you! i have a pet rabbit and he loves weaving bettween my legs as i walk! hes very funny but does not like being held, but if you scrach his back he bobs his head up and down! but they do need a large cage and lots of attention, they can be kept alone if you give them alot of attention like me, or they can have a buddy of the same gender (unless you want 100 rabbits...) once again give them the bi-odor stuff and clean there cage alot and they dont smell nearly as much, in fact i keep my rabbit and my guinea pig in the same room, my room, which i sleep in! :D

BTW rabbits are not rodents, they are lagamorphs o.O

But before you get any pet do TONS of recerch, at least 2 weeks, before getting that pet, I almost got a chinchilla but if i did it would die in a matter of days just becouse i have a rabbit. So do your homework, and look it up. And just becouse one website said you should do this with your pet dont trust it, becouse it could be made up, look for websites that are stuff like the national chinchilla foundation or something like that.

We should have a pet holiday! There's mother's day, father's day, president's day, we NEED a pet's day! (Of course, some wise old person will probably play the "every day is pet's day!" card.. like they do with kid's day. LOL!
