Yorkshire Day 2024 is on Thursday, August 1, 2024: What do you think of Yorkshire Day?
Thursday, August 1, 2024 is Yorkshire Day 2024. Yorkshire Day is celebrated on 1 August to promote the historic English county of Yorkshire. It was celebrated in 1975, by the Yorkshire Ridings Society, initially in Beverley, as "protest movement against the Local Government re-organisation of 1974", The date alludes to the Battle of Minden, and also the anniversary of the emancipation of slaves in the British Empire in 1834, for which a Yorkshire MP, William Wilberforce, had campaigned.

Yorkshire Day encourages the wealthy good reputation for the British county of Yorkshire. Initially a military observance, your day has broadened to become celebration of other nutritional foods related to Yorkshire from flat caps to black puddings and much more!
I think its a good idea, every county should have their own day. All those working would indeed like another bank holiday off work, so Yorkshire Day sounds okay with me and a happy Yorkshire Day to you as well.
