Phileas Fogg is very detailed, consistent gentleman living in London. He makes a wager with several other gentleman that he can circle the world in 80 days. He takes with him his servant Passepartout. At the same time the Bank of London has been robbed and during his travels he is suspected of the crime and Detective Fix sets out to arrest him. During the trip Fogg rescues an Indian woman named Aouda from a human sacrifice. When they finally reach London Fogg believes he is late but Passepartout discovers that they aren't. Fogg had forgotten about the International Dateline. He wins the wager and marries Aouda.

this classic book was written in 1873 by jules verne. The story starts october 2nd 1872. Phileas fogg a wealthy bachelor lives at 7 saville row burlington gardens. He is a member of the reform club and is methodical in his habits.During that day he has an argument in the reform club over an article in the Telegraph which says that the opening of a new railway section in India makes it possible to travel around the world in 80 days.Fogg is certain with his mathematical mind he can do it and accepts a £20.000 wager from fellow club members he can do it.He leaves London by train with his manservant passpartout at 8.45pm that night.This is the beginning of the entire plot and from then on we are witness to his incredible adventures and meetings with fellow companions.The main plot focuses on his travels while a subplot has a detective named fix following fogg all over believing him to be a wanted bank robber.He pets obstacles in foggs path sohe can arrest him when the warrant from england comes.The idea fogg may be a gentleman thief is a subtheme in the book to make the author suspicious as even passpartout has suspicions though he trusts his masters integrity.Fogg goes through brindisi, suez, bombay,calcutta, hongkong, yokohama san francisco, new york and finally liverpool. Fix arrests fogg at liverpool and delays him causing fogg to believe he has missed the deadline but he has in fact arrived back a day earlier.
