if you feel the space is needed then use it but if you miss him and it is going to make you miserable what is the point. i think you guys need to work things out together and not alone because part of being a couple is functioning with another person. and no matter how hard it is to get along sometimes it is worth it in the end. I personally don't think these 2 days away will bring you closer but do what you think is best for you and him. its great that you have been going out for 16 months but a date is a date it does not symbolize how much a person means to you. handle this as you would if wednesday was just like another day.
