Why we celebrate oct 28 as world animation day ?

NFB writes: "In 2002, the International Animated Film Association (ASIFA) launched its World Animation Day to commemorate the first public screening of Émile Reynaud’s cartoon “films” using his théâtre optique at the Musée Grévin in Paris on October 28, 1892. The ASIFA celebration is now an annual event and a unique opportunity to celebrate animated film, an artform enjoying unprecedented popularity around the world but whose distribution remains limited. Events marking the 5th World Animation Day will be held in 48 countries including the United States, Spain, Chile, Mexico, Lebanon, Greece, Cuba, Italy, China and Russia. Several countries – including Canada – will extend their celebrations over several days."

Why are American productions turning crap animation these days?

Why are American productions turning crap animation these days?

I'm not a fan of American animation; I really prefer Japanese [anime rocks!!]. But I have to agree, Avatar is good. If it was made by a Japanese, it would have sold a lot.

Animation?

Animation?

I'm not the best artist in the world either but I'm still going into animation.

People have different levels of talent in art. My suggestion is to PRACTICE. And not just randomly practice. Learn art principles and use them.

All animation whether it's computer or drawn requires the ability to draw. It doesn't mean you have to be the GREATEST ARTIST OF THE CENTURY. It just means that you have to be able to draw at a certain level and make it look right.

A few tips on drawing.

1. Everything can be broken down into basic shapes. This includes the human body. Draw using the basic shapes first, get the proportions right, and then start expanding on what you've drawn.

2. TAKE YOUR TIME! No artist starts out drawing incredible drawings in an hour, or even two. I can pump out decent pieces these days but it takes me a good 5-8 hours to truly get them right.

3. Use light pencil strokes. That way you can go over with darker ones later.

4. Save ALL your drawings. seeing what you've done before can help you understand how you need to improve.

5. Don't be afraid to look at real-world examples. If you're drawing a woman, look at an actual woman and so on.
