So today is middle name pride day...?

My middle name:

Elizabeth

Favorite middle names:

Adeline

Charlotte

Bennett

Henry

I love these names in any order, first or middle, but they also make very good complements to many different kinds of names.

BQ: I say "seh cill LEE." I assume it is French and would pronounce it accordingly.

♡ Opinions Of The Names From Pride & Prejudice + BQ?

♡ Opinions Of The Names From Pride & Prejudice + BQ?

Jane...I think this name is sweet, simple, and practical but a bit plain. It's a nice middle name option if nothing else flows but you don't want a filler. Janie is a cute nickname. I've only known one Jane and although it is very well known it is also quite uncommon and unexpected for a young girl so it's definitely a good option, easy to cope with. However, if I were named Jane I might feel my name is too plain and dream of having something a bit more special. 7/10

Elizabeth...this is a great classic name that has so many nickname options it's impossible not to like at least a little bit. Of course Lizzy was used in Pride and Prejidice which is cute but my favorite is El. Sweet, simple, and not necessarily a full time nickname. It's too common nowadays for me, but I like it. 8/10

Mary...honestly, this name is too dated for me to like. I try to but considering it was the most popular name in the US for most of the nineteenth and early twentieth century and is now out of the top 100 it is safe to say people have gotten quite tired of it. I don't like the sound of it, either, a bit plain. 3/10

Catherine...great name, timeless and elegant. Unlike Mary, this name has been steadily popular and though my reason for liking it is mainly for the nicknames Kate and Katie, I love the gracefulness of the full name itself. I do hate the nickname kitty though. 7/10

Lydia...very pretty name, it's not my style at all (again, too dated) but it is definitely growing on me and if I was from that era I'd have loved it for sure. It's sweet, feminine, and elegant. A perfect name. 9/10

Georgiana...better than Georgina but I've never been a big fan of George names. It's a big mouthful as well and not completely usable. The ending is beautiful, though. 5/10

Charlotte...one of my absolute favorite names, very elegant and refined. I imagine a Charlotte as a sweet, intelligent and pretty girl with good manners, and the name itself is all those things (well, of course a name can't itself be intelligent or have good manners, but it SOUNDS classy and very doctor/writer-ish.) 10/10-wish I could give it an eleven

Caroline is pretty, I like it a lot. I hate the nickname Carrie because it just reminds me of the word (hate is a strong word, I don't mind it all that much truthfully) but the name in itself is very, again, elegant and although it's for,all sounding I can see it just fine on a little girl. 7/10

Anne...Anne is a bit plain to me. I love the look of it, though. It does remind me of Anne Frank, a wonderful namesake. I prefer Anna, Annabel, Anastasia...any An name, really, I like, just not this one. 3/10

Louisa...I love, love, love this name! Not as much as I love Charlotte but still. I love the nickname Lou. It's so classic, pretty, and feminine with a twist. I, almost disappointed in my parents for not giving me this name. I met a little girl with this name, and she was such a Louisa...I'd never be afraid to use it. 10/10

Fitzwilliam...to be honest, I hate it. I love William by itself but this is just too much, definitely not usable nowadays but fine in pride and Prejidice. Does sound very strong but made up. Kind of like the trendy names of the Austen days :) 2/10

Darcy...such a charming, cute name! It will always remind everyone of pride and Prejiduce but beyond that it's fine. It's one of the few names I like on both genders. It fit the character well, very dashing and it grows on you. 8/10

Charles...I don't like the sound of just plain old Charles. Considering I don't know of a single Charles besides the prince who went by that name, it's safe to say I'd probably never use it because I'd be hesitant to give my child a name just to get a nickname out of it. However, I love Charlie! So cute! 5/10

George...well, I said before I, not a fan of George names. I've been trying to force myself to like this name ever since Prince George was named but it's still too plain and stuffy for my taste. 5/10

William...crazy how Jane Austen predicted the names of royalty (well, not really, but still.) Will is a nice nickname option and I love the name Liam. Overall it's a nice name, I've always liked it. 8/10

Edward...sorry, grandpa. I hate it. I'm inclined to use it as a middle name because (you guessed it) it's the name of my grandfather but it reminds me of the one with the mushroom head on spongebob. His voice was the reason I refused to go near the TV with my little cousin when she was younger.

BQ-it's alright, a bit boring. My favorite character is probably Elizabeth, but I often say the main character. I do like the Keira Knightley one but I'm not sure which one you're referring to.

marriage and name changes?

marriage and name changes?

Keep your maiden name as your middle name, and take his surname as yours. Hyphenating is just not practical. Once you are married, it would be good to change your daughter's name as well.

I do understand you wanting to keep your name because of heritage. I'm Ukrainian, and my husband is Ruthenian (Carpathian Ukrainian). However, our surnames were of equal length, and just as obtuse to spell, but I decided to take his surname because we wanted children some day. It's best to have one family name.

Good luck to you!
