Chances for Brown University?
I think you stand a fair shot. You have great test scores and grades and show definite passion. Get good recommendations, write a fabulous essay, and the rest is up to the fates, I think.
As for whether everyone at Brown is either rich and connected or overachievers lacking basic hygiene... not quite! There are a surprising (to me) number of people here who went to private high schools, but most are just regular students who did well in high school. I've yet to meet anyone who didn't shower at least occasionally. (Look at me! I showered just last week.)
