Zero. Also zero pensions, zero safety, and 6 day weeks of 10-12 hour days and children as young as 6 years old worked. Back in the good old days, the ones that the GOP longs for to return.
If you are getting a paid holiday today, thank a union member.
Unions aren't driving our jobs overseas, since Germany and other European countries have strong unions and they aren't losing jobs. Their countries protect their workers and their wages. The average American salary/wage has remained stagnant since Ronnie Raygun busted PATCO and the systematic destruction of unions began. The propaganda I see repeated on this board is from years of union busting tactics.
If unions have no place and do no good, why do big businesses like Wal Mart fight so hard to keep them out? Yahoo had an article two days ago about how the average minimum wage worker was shorted of their pay every month through illegal practices like making them work off the clock, unpaid overtime, pay docked for illegal reasons, etc.
Does anyone know exactly how much the pharmaceutical and insurance companies pay the politicians?
Insurance companies alone are spending about 1.4 million dollars a day to stop this reform from happening. Sounds like they have some major profits to protect.
And Eli Lilly, alone, spent 3.6 million lobbying during the 2nd quarter of this year. That's just one company.
Pharmaceutical Researchers and Manufacturers of America have spent 22.5 million in the first quarter on lobbying.
Estimated rate for HOME day care insurance?
Most companies will cover home day care operations if no more than 4 or 6 children depending on the company you are with. The company I represent will allow up to 6 children in the home before a separate policy be required. Call your local agent and ask about their specific guidelines since it will vary from company to company.
I would recommend you purchase a separate policy for your day care.
