There are tons of floats, and marching bands from differenert high schools all over the country are chosen to play in the parade. There is a Rose Parade Court, which consists of several female Pasadena residents who are currently seniors in high school. The parade includes the marching bands of the two schools playing in the Rose Bowl Game. The parade's Grand Marshal performs the coin flip at the beginning of the football game. The parade has nothing to do with the NFL. When New Year's Day is on a Sunday, the parade and game are held on Monday.
