National Day - should UK have one?

Of course we should. Personally instead of staying in with my feet up on my Ikea sofa, watching american shows on my Japanese TV, I'm going to put on my giorgio Armani suit, leap into my Volkswagen, hightail it down to the Emirates Stadium, watch those young guys who play for Arsenal in the "Premier-ship", then Italian girlfriend in tow, make for the nearest Indian restaurant for a curry, accompanied by a pint of Dutch Lager, or a bottle of Bordeaux.

........mind you, don't we all do that?

Blueprints and basic sailing information needed for classic ships?

Blueprints and basic sailing information needed for classic ships?

With regard to the drawings (blueprints) visit the web site of the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich, UK. Here is an abstract from the site:-

"The National Maritime Museum looks after the largest single collection of original ships plans in the world.

The one million plans date from the early 18th century to the present day, and form a unique and authentic primary source for both the Royal Navy and the Merchant Navy. The collection also includes plans for foreign vessels taken during time of war, and vessels purchased into the Royal Navy. About 1000 of the plans have so far been digitised and are available to view online."

With regard to practical sailing information, read the 'Post 1850 Admiralty Manual of Seamanship'.

For sailing instructions for ocean passages, read 'Sailing Directions and Physical Geography of the Seas and Its Meteorology' by Lieut. Matthew Fontaine Maury U.S. Navy.

I can't help with naughts as I don't recognise the word in a sailing context. If you meant to write knots, some are covered in the Manual of Seamanship and you could also e-mail Willeke van der Ham, who is a frequent contributor to Yahoo Answers.

Edit:-

You can access Willeke van der Ham by going to Yahoo Answers - Browse Categories - Travel - Europe (Continental) - Netherlands, where you will see Willeke's icon as the top contributor. Click on the icon and you will be redirected to her Yahoo page from which you can e-mail her.
