October is DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS, and BREAST CANCER month, what have "you" done to CONTRIBUTE lately ?
I actively take time to educate both men and women with regards to being proactive with their own health and making sure that breast screening is part of their health maintenance.
As for domestic violence I participate in diologue to get the message out there about what DV is and what as a society and a community we can do to stop it. I empower others to make healthy choices around relationships and I take part in advocacy on a micro and macro level hoping that lobbying government will implement policies to protect vulnerable populations. I also a very active with the Take Back the Night march and have encouraged high school students to be active and aware of the dangers of domestic abuse.
I clarify and state the facts surrounding rape and make sure that anyone perpetuated rape myths is promptly corrected. I encourage girls and boys to make choices around drinking and socializing that will discourage them from being victimized or from raping another.
Educating our youth is the key to stopping domestic violence and cutting down on the incidents of breast cancer deaths.
