PCOS, birth control, and missing days?

Birth Control Pills block ovulation... but since you missed a few days, then yes, you could have ovulated.

If you're trying to get pregnant though, you shouldn't be on Birth Control Pills... you need to be on Metformin. I had very irregular periods, and the Metformin has helped me become regular again.

Clomid will help you ovulate.

If you have a combination birth control pill (two hormones), not a progestin only birth control pill this is what you do:

If you miss one birth control pill you take it as soon as your remember. And you will then take the next pill at your regular time. So you will end up taking two pills in one day.

And since you are forgetting pills then I suggest you try another form of birth control. One that you don't need to take every day. (But since it's your first pack I understand your not used to taking them, but if you keep forgetting you might want to think about these forms of birth control).

Ortho Evra (the patch) - 3 patches come in a pack and you will wear each one for 7 days. You then will not wear a patch for a week so you get your period.

Nuva Ring (the vaginal ring) - This is a plastic flexible ring with hormones that you insert into your vagina and will stay there for 21 days. Then you will take it out and not use one for a week so you will have a period.

Depo-Provera (the shot) - This is a shot you will get every 3 months.

ParaGard (the IUD ((intrauterine device)) - This is a small, "T-shaped" device inserted into the uterus to prevent pregnancy for up to 12 years. ParaGaurd doesn't use hormones so you would have your period normally. There is another IUD called Mirena that is recommended for women who have had at least one child and does use hormones. Mierna is larger than ParaGard and the woman's cervix needs to be larger (as in a woman who has had a child) to be placed.

Implanon (the implant) - This is a matchstick sized piece of plastic that has hormones and inserted under the skin of your upper arm and protects against pregnancy for up to 3 years.

Good luck

Girlfriend on Birth Control 8 days, condom broke.?

Girlfriend on Birth Control 8 days, condom broke.?

Birth control actually takes 7 days to take effect (is effective immediately if she started on the first day of her period). So you should be in the clear, but barely. But trust me when I say it doesn't take a month or more to take full effect. I'm on the same pill. My breasts became sore because they were growing. And it is far too early to be feeling pregnancy symptoms. Everything she will feel for the next month or so are from the Pill, and will be similar to pregnancy symptoms.

Relax! It'll all be fine =)
