What are some ways to market Alcohol Awareness Week for at a college?

I think start with clarifying your objective. It seems safe to say that your objective is making people aware of the risks associated with alcohol and, probably, strategies for consuming it as safely as possible. Using Alcohol Awareness Week is a means to that end. So now your question is how do you let people know that it is Alcohol Awareness Week. So lets start there since that is probably what you want in the first place.

Posters around the school, and especially in any on-campus bars. Do those still exist? I bet not.

Paid advertisements in the school newspaper but, better still, pitch a story to the newspaper and get an interview with one of the writers. An article is worth way more in terms of exposure than an ad or an announcement.

Public Service Announcements on the school radio and/or tv station.

Public Service Announcements on any other local tv and radio stations - consider that your fellow students are availing themselves of a lot of off campus media, so it may be reasonable to reach them off campus as well as on campus.

Event marketing is always good. If you are going to have any kind of a rally, or speeches or anything, you can promote those with posters and fliers and the events, in turn, promote the week and the overall message.

Do student unions still show movies? If they do, maybe you can schedule some movies with compatible messages about drinking. Not necessarily moralistic or preachy movies, but possibly even movies like Leaving Las Vegas, which deals head on with alcoholism but doesn't glorify it or preach about it. It sets the stage for thought and provides a nice venue for handing out literature. Another fun movie idea? See if you can get ahold of the old drivers ed movies they made in the 50's and 60's that show horrendous car crashes and the the impact of drinking and driving. In fact, I bet if you contact the state police, they use similar movies (maybe the same well worn ones!) in their traffic school classes.

You might be able to have the local police help you tow a car totalled in a drunk driving accident into a high traffic common area and then you can put signs around it.

Does your college have an e-mail newsletter? That would be a good way.

Does the student union print out calendars? Maybe you can get it included on the calendar of events.

Distribute stacks of fliers to the academic offices that ask the professors to mention alcohol awareness week to their classes.

Sweetie I'm sure you mean well but we are all bored to death with hearing about the cancer risks.

You cannot raise awareness as we cannot escape from the subject. Breast cancer awareness weeks start before you even realised the last one had finished because the media bang on about it so much.

Those who don't worry about lung cancer have made up their minds. You are not going to change it.

The constant haranguing on the subject can, in fact, have the opposite effect because we stop listening.

what do you suggest to stop risks of global warming ?

what do you suggest to stop risks of global warming ?

no a questionof risk it is hapening and there is little hope of us being able to stop it

Global warming is a very complex collection of many effects

this text is limited to effects of people in the country, industrial effects on the environment and the internal combustion engine as well as the over all effects of cities and the ozone part of global warming,is another story,

climate change is caused partly by desertification ,and most desertification is caused by man

the thinner ozone layer helps to speed this up.and this is caused mainly by air polution ,also as a result of mans actions

there are natural cycles in the planets life

but a lot is influenced by mans existance ,and this is increasing with overpopulation, putting strains on Natural resources and increasing contaminations as well as destructions of essential componants the ensure living conditions for all life forms

in North Africa,India,Mexico ,millions of people are effected by land loss and desertification and some have died as a result

in china, thousands of what used to be farmers are running for their lives from the dust storms that have burried their towns and turned their lands into dessert,

,the Sahara is growing by 7 kilometers a year

and all of the desserts we know are a results of mans actions ,and they are increasing ,not getting less ,in the dinosaurs days ,there were no desserts.

collectively this planet is drying up because of bad farming practices like, over grazing and fertilizers,

each degree rise in temperature means 10%crop loss

and there is less and less water (because of deforestation),to irrigate this production ,

and there are less and less farmers to do it..

and there are 70 million more peole every year that have to eat and drink and wash

who are overpumping deep carbon aquifiers

who are plowing more and more unstable lands because they have lost so many million hectares to desertification ,

because of bad farming practises ,such as using fertilizers and heavy machinary or over grazing

RISING SEAS

The northpole is melting ,and we will know it without ice in our life times.

this does not affect the sea level because it is ice that is already in the water.but the melting ice from Green land and the south pole ,are another matter.

Global warming is in theory reversable, but it will mean global co operation between all countries ,and taking into account human nature and the world politics ,it is unlikely that this will happen,

At least not untill we are all in the middle of planetary disastres and it becomes a battle for the survival of humanity every where.

SOLUTIONS

if you want to help the planet ,plant a tree every week ,if everyone on the planet did we we would be able to reverse the destructive processes

reduce carbon emisions, and they are already working on that by alternative forms of energy and regulations on carbon producing materials, aerosol cans, burning rubbish, industrial chimneys, powerplants etc.

the capture of carbon and the production of water and assist the aquiferous manta.

the world bank pays large subsidies for reforrestation to capture carbon and the best tree for this is the Pawlonia

Waterharvesting projects ,such as millions of small dams.to redirect over ground waterflows from the rains into the ground to supply subteranian water supplies.

the protection of existing forrests.

stop building more highways, urban planning to include vegetation stop building cities encourage people to return to the land to conduct their business from there which now has become possible thanks to the internet.

education to motivate people to auto sufficiency by building more home food gardens.

education on environmental awareness

education on family planning to curb over´populaion

Agricultural education and improvements to follow the principals or sustainability and soil management.

more environmental or land ,design to prevent bush fires, such as--fire breaks

,more dams.regulations and control for public behaviour

alternative effeciant public transport to discourage the use of the internal conbustion engine

recicling wastes,limit water use
