Evaluate Your Life Day

How’s it going? Evaluate Your Existence Day is an opportunity to get reflective, and consider how you’re doing. How’s your job? Your loved ones existence? Your associations? If there’s whatever you feel needs a little of attention, today’s your day to obtain a plan in position and begin making changes!

How often do you have days when you find yourself questioning and evaluating your life?

Yes, indeed I do. Life is hard, and it can just beat you up if you don't maintain a really high level of self-discipline, positive outlook ,etc.

Go to the website for Alcoholics Anonymous....print yourself out a copy of "just for today". Some days, even for those who are not dealing with alcoholism, are just difficult to get through. AA suggests posting the Just for Today thoughts where you can see them...and to even break the day down in increments....if I can just get through the next ten minutes, etc...all day long.

But, my parents taught us to pray when we awoke...and again before we went to sleep. Both times, we were taught to think with gratitude for a new day...and, that night, to assess our own behavior of that day. I still do that.

Life is a journey....I like to look at a "map" and see just where I am most every day.

Even if it is pouring down rain, when I am having a truly funky day.....I make myself go outside and have a walk.

Read a thing that said that brains get into a snag just like a computer does. Trick is to have some sort of way that you reboot your brain to get it out of that snag. For serious cases, that is what electric shock treatment does....reboots your brain. When you start worrying a thing over, and over and over again....your brain needs re-booting to get it out of that thought pattern.

Have a look at the works of Dr. Amin (sp?) ...the doctor who is writing such understandable books about brains and how to deal with yours.

If you find that standing on a ladder and banging two rocks together helps you, I am not the one to laugh at you....I am all FOR anything that works for anyone.

Seniors have you had a good life?

Seniors have you had a good life?

My life has been one of extremes and constant change from day 0. One Event leads an opening for the next, and I have noticed absolutely NO rational cause & effect factor....finding my much loved husband's dead body (suicide) became the segway to my greatest joy; being blessed with a perfect infant has brought my deepest sorrow. I know nothing about "Life", but the only key to my "good existence" has been learning total commitment to surviving, or to reveling, in whatever the current Moment happens to be. Some people are risk-takers, some careful planners, both extreme techniques to control ones fortunes....The surest way to an unhappy life is to believe that there is more than the smallest fraction of it that you actually "control".

I have no idea how to define, much less judge, a good life, unless you are taking a measure of Luck and Misfortune, or evaluating an individual's percentage of subjective, perceived happiness and/or virtue. I have had an excessive amount of Luck and Misfortune, one somewhat more than the other, which has made my life full of varied experiences - Since I highly value this, my life is something which I would call "Very Good". My happiness factor is quite low since my CURRENT experience is a particularly intense mix of wonderful and tragic. The survival skills needed to cope with the Tragic part have always been my weakest area, so I would rate my life as a Bad One. Seriously, I wouldn't at all mind quitting at this point.

ANSWERS to your QUESTIONS:

--I can't conceive of Life as a global entity because my own has NOT been experienced as a cohesive, continuous unit, so I'm unable to understand the question for ME (although others have given interesting answers that make perfect sense.)

--It is most definitely desirable to have a good (ie, happy, productive, fulfilling) life, but I can't think of one reason why it would be at all important, other than the pleasure of it.

--All of the bits and pieces are important. Having an overall "good life" has no importance, since I don't believe that such a thing really exists without magician's mirrors and selective memory.

--All lives have difficulties so they would always be part of a "good life". Each person decides how extreme is a difficulty....It's all subjective. Plus, a "difficulty" is not an actual thing - Its existence and its measure is based on how that one individual perceives it. Reality is just something we make up as we go along.

Nice question!! Sorry that I was unable to answer it in a clear way.

How do you evaluate the lives of many men and women who left their promising careers?

How do you evaluate the lives of many men and women who left their promising careers?

Life is too short, and some people see that what they're spending their days doing might be great money-wise or status-wise, but they're unfulfilled. It's actually common for successful people to want to feel what it's like to have nothing.

I think it's a great thing!
