Sunday, October 6, 2024 is World Habitat Day 2024. World Habitat Day is observed every year on the first Monday of October throughout the world. It was officially designated by the United Nations and first celebrated in 1986. The purpose of the day is to reflect on the state of our cities and towns and the basic human right to adequate shelter.

Using the population around the globe growing at ever growing rates and space confined, the Un produced Habitat Day to advertise understanding of the significance of making certain that everyone can access sufficient shelter and accommodation.

How about Jo in 'Little Women' by L.M. Alcott? You can wear the long skirts and long sleeves, yet have a book in one hand and a diary in another; if your hair is already dark, that's good too...

Have you read the 'Odd Thomas' books by Koontz? The character who is engaged to Thomas wears an outfit suitable for serving ice cream in a mall-- a lot of pink in it. Yet the character is the manager of that food stall, and is very, very smart. She has big plans for the future--

Or 'Carrie' by King? Prom dress, small prom-queen crown, all splashed with red... might be hard to pull off, but maybe.

Perhaps Diane Fossey, who spent so much time learning all about mountain gorillas in their habitat, and an equal amount of time trying her best to catch and bring punishment to those who poached the gorillas for the babies and some other small part, I think it was money, if one could prove they'd killed a gorilla.

Anyway this one (Fossey) could be done by just wearing khaki pants, same on the shirt, hair not-so-styled, a notebook on gorillas, even carrying a toy stuffed gorilla looking like a baby one.

(She's written about in a biography called "Woman in the Mists" --yep, it was turned into a movie too)
